Join the Brainbox Initiative for a webinar on Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation in Tinnitus: Rationale, Current Stage of Research and Future Perspectives, led by Dr Stefan Schoisswohl, Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, University of Regensburg, Regensburg, Germany, Department of Psychology, Universität der Bundeswehr München, Neubiberg, Germany.
Pathological alterations associated with the emergence and maintenance of a phantom sound perception termed tinnitus provide a significant leverage point for the application of non-invasive brain stimulation techniques such as repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS). Although a large body of fundamental and clinical investigations, there is still disagreement about its effectiveness for the treatment of tinnitus. Besides a short introduction about tinnitus, an overview of neurophysiological pathologies as well as the rationale behind the application of rTMS as a treatment option for tinnitus, this webinar will focus on the current stage of the investigation, challenges identified and future perspectives.
